Your new place has an existing home security system
Many times after you close on a house, you’ll see that the previous owners didn’t take a smart home system. All the alarms and cameras function well, are placed in the right spaces, and are ready to go. In this instance, all you may have to do is to call and start a new service contract. A Vivint professional will still come to your home to make sure there are no integration problems, and they might offer suggestions on an upgrade or two. It's a fast visit, and you can have your alarm monitoring set up without having a bill for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you add on.
The previous owners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal transfer fee to make the transfer simpler. If the previous owners are downsizing to an apartment or retirement community, transferring the home security contract may be a condition of the sale.
You are looking to move and bring your home security devices with you
You may want to bring along your favorite smart devices with you to a new home when you move. That’s pretty simple to do, as many components are portable. You can uninstall each component yourself or contact a Vivint expert to come and dismantle your devices. Then a pro will set up the same features -- and any new items you want -- in your new home. The home security contract will stay the same.
